Meridians are pathways for many different types of physical
and subtle energies. While invisible to the naked eye, they are circuits of positive and negative energies,
as well as bodily fluids, and they have been scientifically measured using various methods. As well, the
400-500 assorted meridian points used in acupuncture and acupressure (the numbers vary according to the system) display unique
and scientifically viable electrical characteristics that distinguish these points from surrounding skin. This
profound system of medicine has been in use for over 5,000 years!

The work “Chakra” is Sanskrit for “wheel.” We will study the seven
main wheels, or vortices of energy, in the human body, whether referred to as the “root chakra” or the Muladhara
(first Chakra). We will study the gorgeous qualities of the “Conception Vessel”, which
some energy practitioners call the “Central Meridian,” but which the Ayurvedic and Sanskrit System refer to as
the sushumna nadi. This channel cradles two other vital channels, the ida and pingala,
which have either cooling or heating properties, and lay alongside the sushumna. We will similarly
discover which endocrine glands are governed by which chakra, and which character, metaphysical and/or personality traits
may be associated with each chakra. This is a fascinating beginning to what may be a lifetime study!

Scientists have been investigating – and substantiating – the existence of the aura, the biofield
which surrounds the human body for over one hundred years. Different theorists find different numbers for
the bands of light energy, or auric fields, which encompass the body and connect us to the outside world as well
as to our inner health.
