December E-Letter from Southern Fried Spirituality

This was so well received last Christmas, I decided to use it again this Christmas. So, Happy Christmas and remember the GOOD NEWS! To oppose ‘what is' brings us stress. To go with God’s clear will (the same as asking, “What would love do?”) always bring peace and comfort.

It is always that simple. Love, Gopita

Dear Energy Medicine Friends:

Christmas is about Jesus. The message Jesus teaches is The Gospel – which means “good news”

I think everything was good news to Jesus. I think he lived in a state of constancy and presence. He was beyond his own mind, beyond limitations of his body, and he offered to everyone a kind of focused love that did not discriminate. This love was always present, kind, compassionate, all-seeing, all-hearing, completely clear and completely available. This kind of love requested nothing in return. It was pure presence, calling forth the absolute best in all of us. It was truly very good news.

I call God’s will for me His love for me, because I see no separation in what I do in my life and God’s will. God is good and God is everything. That means I am clearly told what to do and how to do it. Am I supposed to divorce my husband? If this is happening now, this is the loving will of God. Are my children sick? Then this is the loving, clear will of God. Things become distressed and difficult when I oppose “what is,” when there is resistance, when I believe God got it wrong this time, that it should be different here, my daughter should not be sick, this relationship should be different, this child should not have died…(oh, that can be a juicy one!) I am out of my mind when I feel something is wrong and I want to impose my so-called will on reality. But God is good and God is everything and reality (God’s will) is the very best news of all.

The best way to hurt someone is to ignore them. Thich Nhat Hahn says that if you do not give the right kind of attention to the one you love, it is a kind of killing.

When you are in the car together and if you are lost in your thoughts, assuming you already know everything there is to know about him, he will slowly die. The same can be said about her: if you are in the car with her and you are lost in your thoughts, assuming you already know everything there is to know about her, she will slowly die.

Why is this brought up here? After the good news of the Gospel? Because Jesus offered one thing and one thing only: Presence.

In this Christmas season, when everyone seems to decide to see their family and friends NOW because suddenly it seems a do-or-die emergency, why not offer to everyone you love the one offering guaranteed to express the gift of Jesus’ true message, the true Christian message of unconditional love and mercy:

PRESENCE?

What would it mean to you to offer everyone your love in the form of presence? What would that mean? How could you manifest this Gospel in your own life?
I would love to hear from you! In the meantime, when I am with you, it is my heart’s desire to be only with you and offer you the gift I know I can give: my presence.

And Merry, Merry Christmas!!

Love, Gopita
